The French restaurant within the 150-year-old Mandarin Oriental Bangkok delivers a dining experience every bit as prestigious as La Grande Dame’s heritage suggests. Though now captained by acclaimed British chef Alain Roux, who brings a fresh new approach, the essence of this institutional establishment remains traditional luxury. The menu drips with the likes of Oscietra caviar, Miéral piegon, and Brittany langoustine; the service is buttoned-up efficient; and jackets are still compulsory for men for dinner. Look to the seven-course Le Menu Gastronomique if you want to push the limits of extravagance.
