Following a hiatus for a complete facelift, Bar Scofflaws has reopened its doors, ushering in a new chapter that we can confidently say is better than ever. The renovation has transformed the space into a more communal sanctuary, anchored by a long table that doubles as a centerpiece for the room and a dedicated DJ station. This expanded, more versatile layout isn't just for show—it's designed to host a rotating calendar of high-profile bar takeovers and international guest shifts.

To celebrate this rebirth, the bar has embraced a new theme titled “Bloom.” Moving away from previous concepts, the current offerings reinterpret classic cocktails through the lens of growth and floral elegance. The result is a selection that is both sophisticated and highly accessible, designed to resonate with the modern-day drinker. With its refined atmosphere and a creative standard that continues to push boundaries, Bar Scofflaws has solidified its comeback as one of the most essential cocktail landmarks in Bangkok.

Perched on the 34th floor of the InterContinental Bangkok Sukhumvit, Sanctuary Bangkok has rapidly ascended the ranks of the city's nightlife scene since its grand opening in March. While the 180-degree panoramic views are undeniable, the real draw is the architectural centerpiece: the award-winning majestic, gigantic wooden leaf designed by Paper Plane Studio.

The beverage program is led by the talented Tom Liu of Taipei’s renowned Tei by O’Bond, who has crafted a menu divided into four distinct degrees of wildness. For those seeking a sense of place, Familiar Flavourtails elevates local staples like lemongrass and pandan, while the Confortails section creatively reimagines classic Thai desserts like mango sticky rice or banana roti as liquid treats. For the truly adventurous, the Wildtails menu pushes boundaries with unconventional ingredients like ant eggs, fermented fish, and horseshoe crab. There’s also the sophisticated selection of Champagne Cocktails that is pretty much self explanatory. Sanctuary offers a refined yet daring escape from the city’s hustle and bustle—and trust us, you won’t want to miss out on this one.

Wasteland

Phra Khanong

Wasteland
Wasteland | Photo: Wasteland

After a long three-year hiatus, Wasteland has officially returned to a permanent home on Soi Pridi Banomyong 1, and the excitement among the city’s eco-conscious drinkers is palpable. Led by founders Dharath “Tot” Hoonchamlong and Kitibordee “Gov” Chortubtim, the bar has sharpened its sustainability mission, moving beyond simple upcycling.

The menu is divided into three chapters. World features classic cocktails executed with Wasteland’s signature craftsmanship. Waste focuses on taking by-products from other kitchens and transforming them into high-value ingredients. However, the Wild section is where the real fun happens; it’s a playground for forgotten forest ingredients and Future Foods. Here, even insects like ants and crickets are reimagined as flavor enhancers rather than mere gimmicks. While sustainability is a buzzword these days, Wasteland remains one of the few spots that makes the movement feel genuinely exciting, innovative, and—most importantly—delicious.

Following the massive success of Opium Bar, beverage director Arnon “Kay” Hoontrakul has stepped into the spotlight with his own solo venture La Copita. Tucked away on Yaowaphanit Road, this compact, standing-room-preferred bar is a deliberate departure from the sprawling lounges of the city. Drawing inspiration from the intimate, neighborhood-focused bars of Tokyo and Sydney, Kay has created a space that feels like a hidden, warm sanctuary for close-knit gatherings.

As Thailand’s first Agave Bar, La Copita is a love letter to mezcal and tequila. The focus here is on the purity and versatility of the agave plant, with a menu that highlights both classic cocktails and creative house signatures.

The latest addition to the Thonglor bar scene, Residents Only immerses you in a setting inspired by Hong Kong’s historic Kowloon Walled City. The entire space is faithfully adorned with iconic touches: metal folding gates, tangled electricity cables, vintage Chinese posters, and analog toys. It truly feels like stepping into one of the dense city's crowded apartments.

Drink-wise, Residents Only reinvents beloved street foods from both Hong Kong and Thailand, transforming them into creative concoctions that break every rule in mixology.

Playing on the Thai word Chim (to taste), Xim Bangkok has quickly established itself as one of the most daring additions to the city’s cocktail landscape in 2025. The bar’s philosophy is divided into four distinct categories, each offering a deep dive into different mixological disciplines.

The journey begins with Chim (referencing much-chim, or "the middle"), where the team experiments with the delicate art of balance—pairing unexpected elements like milk with Oxymel, an ancient Greek herbal tonic of honey and vinegar. The second category, Mix (a backward spelling of Xim), transforms the bar into a scientific laboratory, utilizing advanced techniques like nitrogen infusion and solidification.

For those seeking a bolder profile, the Taste section explores the wild side of mixology with aromatic ingredients like toasted rice and galangal. Finally, there is Xim, a nod to the Hmong word for "color." This category is a tribute to the changing seasons, using vibrant herbs and produce to showcase the ever-evolving flavors of nature. For anyone looking for a drink that challenges the intellect as much as the palate, Xim is an absolute must-visit.

Tipples & Nibbles
Tipples & Nibbles | Photo: Tipples & Nibbles

Sake is reaching an all-time high in Bangkok this year, and Tipples & Nibbles is one of the spots leading the charge in making the Japanese spirit more accessible than ever. Nestled in Soi Thonglor 13, this gastrobar moves away from the intimidating, serious aesthetic often associated with premium sake. Instead, owners Vee and Am curate a selection of easy-to-drink varieties housed in vibrant, beautifully designed bottles that are as much a feast for the eyes as they are for the palate.

The food program is equally impressive. Drawing on their experience running a chef’s table, Vee and Am have designed a menu that bridges Japanese culinary tradition with modern gastropub flair. Each nibble is thoughtfully crafted to complement the light, fruity, or dry notes of their sake collection. Set against a backdrop of warm mid-century motifs and elegant Japanese decor, Tipples & Nibbles is the ultimate spot for a relaxed, high-quality hangout in the heart of the city.

The Sarnies Group has completed its Sukhumvit 22 trifecta with Toma y Toma, a bar that radiates the fun-focused, flamboyant energy of Latin hedonist culture. Helmed by the same creative minds behind the award-winning Funkytown, this new spot is nestled in the same building as Sarnies Cantina and Carito’s. From the moment you step inside, the atmosphere—packed with wall-to-wall light and sound—makes it clear: this is a space designed for a serious blowout night.

Despite the high-intensity vibe, the cocktail program is refreshingly unfussy. The menu is designed to be instantly understandable, focusing on bold, vibrant flavors rather than complex gatekeeping; the experience is all about accessibility! With price points that are surprisingly affordable for the neighborhood, Toma y Toma is the ultimate "pre-game" or "all-night" destination that we can’t resist returning to.

Aether

Silom

Aether

The Watermelon Group, known for the long-standing Rabbit Hole and Crimson Room, has reached new heights with their latest venture Aether. Perched on the 44th floor of Dusit Central Park, this 360-degree rooftop lounge is a dramatic departure from the city’s typical themed bars. Instead, it embraces a "futuristic-minimalist" aesthetic, where clean lines and metallic accents frame an unbeatable panoramic view of Lumpini Park.

Drink-wise, Aether is all about progressive mixology. Imagine the bar as a modern lab for cocktail art and science where the bartenders get to show off their techniques and creativity to create expressive flavors that tell a story. More than just a cocktail bar, Aether also doubles as a sky-high sanctuary for audiophiles, featuring a sophisticated house-driven sound identity curated by top DJs.
